Nick writes stories for readers aged 9–17 (or thereabouts) – and for adults who share his sense of humour. He lives in the not-so-posh part of Tunbridge Wells (yes, it exists!) with his amazing wife, Emily, their three wonderfully different children, and a rather magnificent red merle collie called Motty – who’s fairly sure he’s the real star of the story.
When he’s not dreaming up adventures, Nick can often be found swimming, running, skating, and taking photos – although not at the same time.
He writes middle-grade novels the way he reads any book – slowly.

'I had the idea for my first novel — now entitled The Orchard Door — back in 2010, while playing with my children in the garden; a real lightning-bolt moment. Over the years, I’ve developed it bit by bit in my spare time, through bursts of intense writing and stretches of spectacular faffing about, until it’s finally become the nearly complete novel it is today. When it comes to crastination, I’m a pro — so much so, that in the meantime I have written The Furps, large chunks of The Furps 2 and nearly half of my upcoming (hopefully) funny fantasy adventure: The Grande Assassin of Corpus Creek!’
